The moons have aligned! Wifey agrees to play DnD!

So as previously stated, my comrade and I are trying to get our wives to play D&D when they come to visit.  I pitched the idea to my wife while driving somewhere a couple days ago.

“So.. Matt and I would like to pick the game we’re going to play when they come over.. that okay?”

She looks at me strangely. “What game ya wanna play?”

Long pause while I tried to word this properly.. “Well these two boys have gone missing, and their dad has an idea where they’re being held. Its up to you to find them and bring them back safely.”

More of the odd look, “What? You want us to play that dungeons `n dragons stuff?”

“Well, yeah” Big smile, “C`mon it`ll be fun.”

“Well.. if you can get <friend’s wife> to agree, I`ll play” and the topic moved on.

Hmm..when I called Matt to run the results by him, he replied with a “Ooh..really?” as it would be hard to convince his wife to play.  So I srubbed the idea and went on to decide if we’d play Chutes and Ladders or Sorry (Not Boggle, as I`m so bad at it). Buuuut last night before bed, wifey says to me, “Oh.. <friend’s wife> said she`ll play but you better not tell anyone we’re doing it.” Closet dork wives! I knew it!

I had 24 hours to plan the rest of the session where I had left off. Thankfully, all that was left was making some mini’s for the PCs and baddies. I took the advice of The Newbie DM and printed out the pictures and adhered them to 1″ washers. A 30 pack at Lowes ran me less than $3.

I`ll be using the WWDDGD module from 2008, In to The Shadowhaunt, but since we`ll only have 3 players, I`ll reduce some of the baddies. 1 animated statue is enough I think and reduce the number of skeletons in the final encounter…if they make it that far.  :)

Besides, I`m just excited I`ll get to use my DM screen as an actual screen and not just a quick reference guide when playing my online sessions. Stay tuned for session results!
