Woot! I got a seat for Worldwide D&D Game Day!

I was following some chatter amongst the contributors at RPGBloggers.com talking about Worldwide D&D Game Day. This year, its happening on Saturday March 21st.

At my local game store, Six Feet Under Games, the seats go quickly so I dispatched an email to the store owner inquiring about a place to put my tush. Moments later she responded, and I’m good to go for a noon time session.

Last year, WotC moved up Game Day from its normal fall schedule to coincide with the debut of 4th edition. This year, they’ve moved it up even more to coincide with the release of the Player’s Handbook 2 which’ll introduce new classes, well, some not `new` to D&D, just new to this edition like the Bard and Barbarian, and new races.

As seen on the Game Day website, the cast of pre-rolled characters is as follows:

  • Ilvarra, drow avenger
  • Markaria, tiefling invoker
  • Roswyn, gnome bard
  • Squeaks, warforged barbarian
  • Balasar, dragonborn paladin (uses material from the upcoming Divine Power product)

I’m happy just to have a seat but I’d rather not play the paladin. I have nothing against them really, but I’d rather take one of the new classes/races out for a test drive. Also, the characters are level 11, the highest level character I’ve ever played. Sadly, I’ve never been past 3rd level before as a PC. As a DM, my party is at level 3 right now and I’m trying to push them to 4th as soon as I can to break the “3rd level curse” I seem to be stuck with.

Personally, the invoker sounds interesting by name alone.

I followed your link to the ‘Six Feet Under Games’ store. You are lucky to have such an awesome looking store in your area! Game stores seem to be fairing quite poorly in our area. I haven’t played at an actual game store in probably over ten years.
