Spice up your online sessions..with a Voice Changer!

Playing our D&D sessions online sometimes has advantages over playing face to face…namely, the use of voice changing software.

What I did was try out MorphVox Pro. It’s a voice changer that has the ability to play sound effects and even some background sounds along with several pre-configured voices. Male, Female, Hell Demon (?!), and a few more. Two versions are available. The free version (Junior) is 100% free but lacks the ability to add your own custom sound effects. Some stock ones are included but weren’t of use to me. The Junior version does allow voice changing though (as does the Pro version).

I’ve used the voice changing portion of this in the past and my PCs seemed to like it. The female NPCs in town now had female voices and it just brought something different to the virtual table to spice things up.

There was one major draw back though. I had to be mindful to talk slower that normal as some players, while enjoying the software, had a hard time understanding just what I was saying. This could’ve been due to the codec I was using on the Teamspeak server not being a high enough quality but I did my best to accommodate. What good is the voice changer when it makes things harder?

Do any of you use digital toys at the game table (virtual or not)?
